Hi everyone having a really bad time right now got a major chest infection exactly the same as I had all over Christmas I literally hurt all over and am so fed up. I’ve got a scan date finally for 19th March . Pain clinic and prescribing nurse at doctors just keep cutting my painkillers down what is the point in a pain clinic that all they do is that? Useless.
Chronic pain bad day: Hi everyone... - Crohn's and Colit...
Chronic pain bad day
Not sure why they would cut down your painkillers - maybe they felt your dose needed adjusting? But, if you are in pain, then you need something to help! Glad you have a scan date for 19 March as it is only 5 or so weeks away - it will come round quickly. Maybe speak to GP in meantime?
Hi thank you for replying so I took so long answering they are cutting my painkillers down because apparently the safe guild lines are still three times lower morphine levels than I am currently taking. They keep telling me it’s not my fault I was so over prescribed for so many years and back then doctors thought they were do the right thing prescribing more pain relief but nowadays it’s different. But it still doesn’t help me and I’m sick of being told it. My body is so damaged with so many problems the list goes on too boring so I keep saying I would rather have a shorter life and not be in agony all the time. I was prescribed antibiotics for my chest infection and they have helped a lot but again that’s a different problem. Sorry for the long boring response.
HI, I am so sorry to hear you are in so much pain and you just had a chest infection around Christmas time. Are you on an antibiotic and are you coughing a lot? That can really increase your pain. They cut back on pain meds b/c they are concerned about addiction. Not always a good idea. Try calling whoever is treating the chest infection. I agree the pain clinic should be more helpful. alternate heat and cold on the areas that hurt the most. But don't leave heat or cold on more than 20 min or so at a time. Hopefully today was a bit better than yesterday
Hi
I always get problems with my chest (I have Asthma) when I come off a very high dose of steroids for my Ulcerative Colitis. But this latest bout turned to bronchitis and I was pretty poorly with it, also with a 'flare up'. I find that the UC is totally controlling my life as I have to take Imodium hours before I can go out when it has settle down. I drink Lactose free milk and try to 'watch' what I eat. It is difficult to find out what starts a 'flare up'. Regards to everyone!
It is very difficult coping that's for sure! I have crohn's, inflammatory RA and so I have to be so careful with diet and trying to decide what I can eat. I hope things improve for you. Coming off steroids can be very rough. I am constantly seeing one doctor or another it seems. Wishing you a period of remission soon
Hi thank you for replying as well I am so fed up with the Chrons on top of everything else I’m starting to think what’s the point again. Sorry.
Hang in there! Will say a prayer for you and hope they find the right med or treatment plan for you. I know what you are saying. been there many times myself
Thank you so much very kind to know other people care
I’m sorry I don’t know what RA is .
RA is rheumatoid arthritis or inflammation of my joints. I do take gabapentin for nerve pain. Sometimes it works but often it doesn't
