Not that I'm competitive or anything but have we any idea how we are doing compared to the other teams?
[Last time I asked a question like this it set Malcy off into techie overdrive and came up with a great little site!]

I did start to do this and went as far as getting a list of he teams. But to get the totals for each team would mean reading the pages for every person registered for the challenge, extracting the activities for each. With 4000+ people doing 1/2 activities for 50 days (still with me?) that would eventually get to almost half a million entries to be processed ...
Hmmm - not very practical. As Dirty Harry said - "A man's gotta know his (server's) limitations."
Thanks Malcy. I wasn't looking for any more work from you but was interested in whether anyone knew how the other teams were doing.
I get the impression 5x50 has taken off more than the organisers expected.
No problem - I'd have been glad to do the job if it had been technically feasible. If I was building he actual 5x50 site, it would be a piece of cake; just a case of askinghecdatabase for he information. I can't undertand why they didn't do this and the MalcyMeter as standard.
Thanks for the thoughts. I wouldn't do anything for this year - my students are in the middle of exams, then I'll be tied up with marking those and their practical work till the end of May.
I'm thinking of going freelance - although I think about that this time every year - and might contact them to talk about next year. We could have a real zinger of a site.
One possibility I've been considering is a running web - but it would need to be different to & better than the existing ones. Do you think there's room for another one?
It's pretty poor that we can't view team totals on the 5x50 site.
Another site to this one?

It's a good idea, the c25k site is not great, it's hard to find topics and pretty user unfriendly.
It would be much better as a bulletin board instead of blogs. I shouldn't need to check my email to find posts.
