You guys have all been fab in being supportive,,,. Generally finding the running less the most exciting thing I have ever done cause I am in shock at doing it, and now a total drag of, not wanting to do it while feeling like a heavy lump on a treadmill, and wondering why I am not, eating chocolate on my bed watching tv......
So later is the beginning of week seven and I am hoping it is not more of the same... Where has my excitement at doing something new gone? And more importantly how do I get it back????? Please help fellow wonderful runners who have been here... X

Get off that treadmill and go outside. Spring has sprung, get the fresh air in your lungs and feel how good it is to be alive and running freely. You could even pretend you are a child out playing without the strains of adult life. Sometimes I pretend I am dancing to the music when I am bored and my legs are tired.
Running outside is much more of a challenge so you don't have time for your mind o wander too much. This is the mental challenge kicking in x
Oh dear lord, I am in Thailand and the heat is astounding! There's no gentle spring anything, just forty degree sweat!!!! Treadmill has air con!!!! Thanks though!!!
Well, that was going to be my suggestion too- but 40 degrees really doesn't sound attractive for running. Watching videos of the English countryside?! Someone on here a while back described something where you could do virtual runs while on a treadmill - not sure what it worked off though.
I have funny images of the English countryside virtually flanking my efforts, and me probably falling over.... Just working out the one foot in front of the other at the moment.... Back to England soon though....
I have just completed week 7 on Wednesday and I too found the same. Do you still run using the Podcasts? If you do, maybe try create your own. I found this to be a little bit of a boost being able to listen to something more my taste and a little bit more upbeat.
After blogging about this yesterday one or two others also commented to say they ditched the standard podcasts and ran to their own music and it helped them also.
I found it just mixes it up a little bit and it's a break from the monotony.
You've done brilliantly to get to week 7, it would be such a shame to give it up now!
I've just completed Run 2 of Week 9. I don't have a treadmill - nor do I have the money to pay for gym membership to use one - so from the start I've been running outside. Yes, having the bitterly cold wind and snow blowing in your face can be off-putting, but I agree with MrsLazy, getting the fresh air into your lungs is what it's all about. And it's a challenge!
I have landmarks that I try to get to within the time limit. I don't really pay much attention to the podcast until Laura speaks, concentrate more on getting where I need to be. My husband changed from podcasts to music around Week 7 and just started doing his own running, didn't actually finish the course as it were.
Week 7 was where I found it mentally tough to keep going, that's the battle. Good luck! x
You deserve a gold medal for coimpleting 6 weeks on a treadmill - I am sure that would count as torture in the Geneva Convention!! Get out there, not only is it nicer and more interesting I really think it's easier than a treadmill, cos you get to go the pace that suits the terrain and not dictated by the machine. I have been grateful for the treadmill in the worst of the weather, but it's never fun.
Funny! Geneva convention.... It killed me this eve... Mind has given up..... I shall keep going though, and see if it comes back to enjoyment later.... Hmmm patience!
I'm out for the same run later. Have to wait for temperature to cool. It's 35 just now and too hot! Good luck. Let us know how you get on! :-). Feeling the same too. Maybe it's the thought of all longer runs from here on. I'm sure we'll feel good after though
KEEP GOING! I found weeks 7 and 8 the hardest, as the reality of long runs all the time sets in. Being completely honest, it is a struggle to keep at it even when you've finished (for me even more so without the programme to keep me on the straight and narrow). I did use my own music towards the end of c25k and it was great hearing my own tunes, but I missed Laura telling me how long left etc! I have now started 5k+ and some 'speed' runs which I am enjoying. I love running outside (no treadmill ) though the weather can be a bind! Try it and see how you get on, you might surprise yourself! Good luck
Although I am enjoying my runs (again) I am finding it hard to get out the door, but once I'm out it's OK. Its so cold here at the moment but I would definitely recommend running outside. I should have gone for my jog this morning but the wind was blowing and it was grey and my bed was just oh so warm and comfy. Tomorrow though I will go no matter what i's doing outside.
Thank you all, I love how people respond to a total strangers laments... There is no way I will not be on the treadmill though, Thailand is melting hot!!!, doing my own music is a good idea, and will do when I am off the program... Feels right to listen to Laura and complete it before doing my own thing...l am off in five mins ish to go for my run, once again thanks for the support x
OK airconditioned room is called for then. LOL Just try and let you're mind wonder onto other things that you will be doing throughout the day rather than counting down how long you have left.
Hope it went ok and you feel good again, I always find my best run is the one I feel like doing the least, it makes me feel good again and I am glad I did it, it gives me that sense of achievement that I beat something that I didn't really want to do, and it can only be doing some good.
Hi Rubies not sure where you have your dreadmill set up but watching a TV may help if thats possible, or some of your favourite music. Having been to Thailand a few times I would say its not just the heat that would make running difficult but also the humidty so you need to be sensible. If I also remember right their pavements are non existent or very poor in many places, a runners accident waiting to happen. I wish you luck, don't forget we are all here for you and you have come through the hardest part of the programme so remember that when you think negative thoughts.
You really think I have done the worst of it???? It seems utterly impossible the last three runs.... And today was rubbish... Though I also am amazed that rubbish means twenty mins of a twenty five min run.... Not really rubbish eh... I am counting today as just not right, and am going to start fresh day after tomorrow .... And really enjoy my rest day tomorrow... Thanks for your kind words ... Yes the roads are motorbike cement truck car death here really ! Safer indoors and the humidity is outrageous ....hot season indeed x
