Many of us started the program after many long years of inactivity, so don't let that scare you. Besides, you have new trainers and you wrote a blog, so you're committed now. :)

I started the programme 2 years ago nearly after a couple of years of inactivity due to cronic illness. My confidence was a low as my fitness levels, but coming here (or the old version of here) for advice and support really helped. I'm now re-doing the programme as I had 6 months off due to a foot injury (not running inflicted).

At any point if you are struggling just slow down :)

I hadn't run since (hating it) at school and didn't start until January, aged 63. I struggled with the seventh and eighth 60-second runs of my first run and worried for a while that I'd have to repeat week one, but I kept on going, running three times a week, and graduated last Saturday, really proud of myself! I still can't believe that at my age I can run for 30 minutes!

I hated all sports at school and started this program in July aged 58. And here I am running 3 times a week regularly and thinking of training for the 10K soon. It's not easy. But it is life changing and oh so worth it health wise, weight wise and above all self-esteem-wise! Good luck :-) You can!

Good luck and take it day by day. I found the first run the hardest but since then I find myself (dare these words even come out of my mouth) enjoying it! Only in week 3 myself though :-)

Just get out there and do it you will be surprised at the buzz you get. It is hard work for some at first, me included but I can't even tell you how much I love it and the programme works. I'm starting week 5 on Monday. :-) Just take it slow is the best advise I received and it is good advice. Good luck and let us know how you get on. :-)

3 is more than 2! How slow did you go? Slower than your walking? Yes, it is possible - that's what worked for me! Take small steps, and if you can't speak, you're probably going too fast. Give it a go.

Week 1 was the toughest week for loads of us, don't give up! You've come back here, so you must be motivated to keep trying. It really is worth it, even if it takes quite a few tries to get through week 1. Have a rest tomorrow, then see how you get on next time. :)
