You definitely will - I have! I started this plan two months ago having never run since I was forced to at school and now I'm on week 9 and my last graduation run will be on Saturday. If us over 60s can do it, so can you!
ps You probably won't run 5k in 30 minutes in week 9 but running for 30 minutes is the important thing - your speed and distance will improve post graduation.
It really works, just trust in the programme, follow it exactly and you may not be running a full 5k by week 9 but you definitely will be running for a full 30 mins.
Put faith in the programme and there is no doubt you will get there. Just aim to get through each run and don't think about too far ahead. You will find then that it will all come together. And you will be running for 30 mins after 9 weeks . It probably won't be 5k unless your speed is fab - I managed 3.8k for my graduation run. Keep it up. You can do it!
Keep going Gregg and you will get there and you too will have the graduation badge next to your name. Definitely don't look to far a head just take each run as it comes and take it slow.
And keep blogging - reading other people's blogs, and getting tips really helps. We're a pretty mixed bag of people, with one thing in common - getting fitter. And running. And being determined, and helping each other, even when it gets a bit tougher. (Especially that!) So that's three things then.
Looking back at the first blog is definitely good for a laugh. I struggled with the first week, and three months later I can run for 50 minutes.
Have fun!
I love all the advice given by this awesome community! Many are nowhere near a 30 minute 5K at graduation, so try not to get discouraged if it takes you a bit longer. Good luck to you Gregg and remember to check-in here and blog...it is such a benefit to you with all the motivation, support and advice everyone is always willing to share. Gayle
