Week 5 Run 3 done!! .................. Just

Wow that wasn't pretty.

After completing recent sessions with what felt like a bit left in the tank, I approached this run with a degree of confidence and a small bit of excitement. I'd already run the 2 x 8 minutes so all I had to do was join the 2 runs with a 4 minute run in between. Easy eh?

Not so easy in the end, but I did it and thats the main thing. It was far from pretty but its done. There was nothing left in the tank and for the first time in recent weeks I was glad when told to stop.

After almost walking like Robocop for a couple of minutes during the warm down, the euphoria kicked in and the realisation of what I'd just done dawned upon me. It's a great feeling to have achieved this much so far and like many others have said, if you'd told me 5 weeks ago that I would be able to run for 20 whole minutes, I wouldn't have believed you.

To anybody reaching this point in the programme, you can do it. If I can, you can. What seems such a big jump is as much of a mental challenge as it is a physical one.

Believe that you can do it and keep running!!

Richard

Yay! Good feeling. :) You're more than halfway through the programme now.

I've found that every time I've approached a run with confidence it's that run that has kicked me in the hurting place, so well done Rich for getting through it.

You've done five weeks and have only four to go but I think that mentally, you're much further along once you've done this run, in that in terms of how you'll do from here on in. You will have tough runs but this run puts you mentally at the finish line. And then all you need to decide is where you want to go from there.
