Have been having withdrawl symptons over the last few weeks as not been able to get out running due to cold / chesty cough etc. Rather than do a long run for my first one back I decided to do my local Parkrun and boy was it cold out there today. On a plus note the cold has frozen up the mud / ground and made it a lot easier than it has been over recent months. Managed to get a PB (by 40 seconds!!) which has really given me some confidence that my underlying fitness is still there and all the slogging away has started to show some benefit.
As I'm way behind on my HM plans (see previous post - not sure how to link it here!) took the opportunity today to speak to some of the more experienced runners about my plans and feel slightly more confident that it is achievable to think I could do a HM in 5 weeks. 5 WEEKS...yikes that's getting closer. Was reassured that I don't need to do the full 13 miles before the day although if time was on my side thats what i would plan for. Therefore, going to aim to get up to 10/11 miles. Going to head out tomorrow to try and do 7/7.5miles so wish me luck. Will post again tomorrow to let you know how I get on

Congrats on the PB, bet that gave you a boost. I was talking to a runner who did the gnr last year (like I will be this year) and he reassured me that he only (?? You know what I mean!) did 11 miles in training, like you are aiming to, and the crowd got him through the last few miles. Best wishes with the training!
Glad you're feeling better Ali! A PB after illness and time off? You will ace that HM!! Wishing you continued well wishes for a successful 5 week training. You can do it! Gayle
Well done you, on getting back and doing a PB. Half-Marathon? Easy peasy, watch you breeze it! You wouldn't like to run behind me and push would you? Haven't run for over a week and feeling disticntly 80% today.
