Does anyone have any suggestions for cramp in the calf muscle? I have suffered periodically for years, I wake up in the night in excruciating pain and my leg will be sore for 2-3 days afterwards. It hasn't happened for some time now, but since taking up c25k I can feel something is going on with the muscle. I always try to stretch after the runs, but maybe it's not for long enough. I've also tried tonic water with quinine but not sure if this works or not.

Have you tried adding foods rich in potassium to your diet, such as bananas? My dad had cramp problems unrelated to running and this was the advice his Dr gave him, he also took a potassium supplement for a while.

Other than that, striking with the midfoot rather than the heel may help if you don't already.
