I must admit, it is embarrassing when you can barely run for the bus and your boyfriend has to do it for you while you trail along behind. But no more! I've just come back from doing Week 1 Run 1 and I feel so much better now that I've started it. I've had the podcast on my iPod now for about 2 weeks and I've been listening to it on the bus thinking 'why am I just listening to it and not doing it?'
It's weird. I'm a dancer and a swimmer and I'll go for hours doing these, but running? I couldn't even manage a light jog around the park lake with my friend the other day (coincidentally also called Laura). Obviously I wasn't expecting it to be easy, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I ran in a circle around a few roads by where I live and by run 5 I was all ready to be sick and go home. But I carried on and I'm so happy that I did! The hard part now will be getting myself back out there to keep doing it now that I know what to expect. Oh well, I have the week off uni now so no excuses.
Let's do this!

Welcome and well done for taking the hardest step - getting out there. You might find that for the first week or so you might want to run on specific days of the week just so you get into a running routine.
Whatever you do keep blogging your progress as that will also help keep you motivated.
Hahaha made me smile and remember why I started this running lark. I missed my bus because I couldn't run a couple of hundred yards, I was so mad with myself. Changed days now though for me and you very soon. Well done your up and running as they say. Good luck.
Enjoyed reading your post - I know how you feel! Getting out the door for wk1 run 1 has so far been the hardest part for me, but once you're over that hurdle, the routine carries you on
