It was the big one because it was 5 miles and I have never run that distance before or for that long. I also had done a 4.5 mile run on Friday in my Yaktrax's in the snow and ice and had a sore groin by the time I had finished.
Snow and Ice gone, rain stopped, just a bit windy so off I went. Decided to do a newish route which took me down a very steep hill into the next village with a big loop round and at the other end yes another huge hill to get back home. I felt comfortable all the way round doing an easy pace I decided to run all the way to the bottom of the hill up to home, that was exactly 5.44 miles (I could have gone on but for the hill). Briskly walked up the hill and then still had a quarter of a mile to my house so jogged that. I was doing a really good stretch in the lounge when my friend phoned to ask if I fancied going for a walk - I declined. I now know that I will be able to complete the 10k but I think there is some fine tuning to do. I certainly can feel that I have run 5+ miles this morning. Not sure how sore I will be in the morning.
For those of you just starting on your C25k journey I have checked back and I started this programme on 11th May 2012. I couldn't even run 10 yards, I couldn't understand how anyone could enjoy running and I although I had run before it was over 15 years ago and only went once a week with a friend to a running club and didn't take it seriously at all. It is nearly 9 months since I started, I have had highs and lows, a few injuries but the feeling of achievement keeps me wanting more.
Hubby is currently walking on the treadmill (first time), you never know might get him to do C25k watch this space.
