Has anyone tried the 'over the head' type of earphones? I've tried a few different in-the-ear types and they keep falling out - must have odd shaped ears?!

I personally preferred using my over head type, but they were pricey/good quality, and not at all designed for sweat/the elements, and I didn't want to ruin them.
So I invested in the Sennheiser OCX 685i in-earphones, which are great, but no where near the same quality of sound. But they hook over the ear and certainly stay in my 'awkward' ears
It's a very personal thing, and the problem is that the majority of headphones you are unable to try on, so the first incling that they're not right for you is after you've shelled out £££ on them...ANNOYING!
I've been using these Sennheiser CX680i for around a year and fined them great - took a bit of getting used to but they're pretty good earphones.
Thanks both for the recommendation. I've got a pair of Philips over the ear hook kind which look similar and even these fall off. It's times like this that a big pair of lugs would be useful!
I had exactly the same problem until I found some earphones that were a different shape. You can get them from Currys and if you look online they are called GOJI GIN and come in several colours. They stay in really well.
I bought some Panasonic over the ear type and they are no good, far too big so don't hook over the ear properly ( would be ok if you had very large ears), their only saving grace if the fact that i wear glasses and it's the glasses that keep them on. I've yet to try them for a run yet though.
Mine are the Philips (orange) waterproof runners in the ear type. They stay in OK and I have extremely small ears. Try wearing a head sweat band to keep them in place. Or in this cold weather better still a Karrimor runners hat (bobble hat without the bobble)
As someone already said, earphones are very personal - and the sizing of them makes a difference. most earphones come with different sized buts to try out. In my experience, it's like buying shoes from different makes. Skullcandy and Seinhessier both have my vote for sound quality, but seinhessier actually stay in my ears
I don't have over the ear headphones - I tried them years ago but found them a faff. My current pair do stay in really well, and have a cracking sound to them!
Not sure about on-ear headphones though - personally I wouldn't use them for sports because they wobble too much - and/or are too weighty. (ps, if you're looking for a good set for general use... I'm selling these: ebay.co.uk/itm/330860723667... :P)
No I haven't because my 'Yurbuds' do NOT fall out!
If you spend more than the £2 that I did you generally get different size buds with your earbuds. My right ear is OK but the left falls out occasionally. Strangely it's better with a smaller bud than a larger one. My £2 jobbies are quite good at staying in, and I'm generally listening to a book so as long as I can hear and understand it over the tinnitus, traffic and other ambient noises I'm not too fussed over the sound quality.
Sports Direct do a good pair, and supply a 2nd pair of buds with them. I run with them without any problem. They also do a good water carrier too!
Whatever you do don't buy these karrimor ones from sports direct. They fall out even more than normal earphones!

I was especially disappointed as all the other karmimor running stuff I have bought has been great

Thank you all for your suggestions. Sounds like a lot of trial and error to come up with something to suit my freakishly tiny ears
