One down, eleven to go

A quick update on progress, I have just completed week one of my half marathon plan.

Run 3, which is extra compared to the plan, was my local parkrun and it was MUD MUD MUD a bit more mud which didn't help my time. Managed to run all the way around even with what felt like a kilo of mud attached to each foot. Whilst I don't particularly like the course it's my favourite run as I just love the parkrun community and support you get week in week out (or is the cake and coffee at the end that do it for me?). So where possible I will try to keep doing this each week as an extra run.

Run 4 (target 6 miles within 78 mins / 13 min mile pace) - Got back from a weekend away and straight onto mapmyrun to plan a route. I wanted a loop as I find that more motivating than having to do laps....found one but it was about 6.5m but decided to give it a go. Off I went and have to say it was really tough but managed to get all the way round which according the garmin was 6.4miles without stopping. OMG,....did I just say without stopping now thats a major first for me. The furtherest I've managed before without walking breaks was 5 miles so well chuffed with that. Time wise I did it in 80 mins which is on target with the plan (average pace was 12.24 min miles) but in my head thought I'd have been quicker as I have managed 5 miles in 53 mins before. A quick talking to myself and I'm back happy with today's achievements.

Bring on week 2 I am ready for you! :) :)

Runners world for finishing in 2hr 30 but doing extra run on a Saturday where I can so I can keep doing Parkrun. Won't be every week as life may dictate I need to do the long run on a Saturday but that sound of the plan. How's yur training going?

was a bit hit & miss over christmas & the new year but had got to 11 miles just before christmas. have been concentrating on doing 2x3mile runs & a longer one at the weekend. last long run 6miles. just relooked at the plan you sent me & so am going on that from week 6 (2x5mile then a 9miler) to build back up. am still enjoying getting out there but motivation to do so is sometimes hiding in the drawer with my running stuff!

march 3rd is my big day :) tomorrow hubbie is going to drop me off about 5 miles away after the school run so I can run back & detour a bit if I feel energetic ~ hope it doesnt snow enough to settle. live near margate so not that far away from you. are you in Kent? have a feeling you are in medwayish?? any sign of snow yet ali? x

Wow ! Really impressed and a bit envious - I've only run twice this year thanks to a lingering cough since my Boxing Day run. I've got a RW plan to follow too so hope to be able to start properly this week - half is in March !

Well done !
