I didn't run yesterday as I was going out in the evening and didn't want to fall asleep in my pudding. However, we ended up not eating anything last night, so this morning I wondered how 4G&Ts and a slice of daughter's verychocolate cake might act as fuel for today's run. I had the obligatory couple of cups of coffee and a couple of slices of cheese (you know the Leerdammer/Jarlsberg stuff? Very easy to snack on) and headed for the heights.
The first bit was hell. I was tired, hadn't much energy and it was ever so slightly uphill. But I did all the usual tricks - just to that tree, just to the end of this song, just to the next minute - and did 20 minutes. Hooray! I then walked for a few minutes and started to run back, thinking that at least I'd done 20 minutes and anything else would be a bonus, and I gave myself permission to walk if I had to. And do you know what? I didn't need to! 20 minutes again, all the way back. Mapometer reckons it was about 4.55k. Now, I know that 40 minutes for that distance is very slow, but I don't care - I'm back on track!

Well done you, that's fantastic. Wish I could still run as far, anyway it will come back. Well done and enjoy the little things like the cheese, you deserve it, oh with some wine too lol ;
Thanks, James - I thought it would take ages to get back to running 30 minutes again, after such a long break, but today went better than I expected. So it will come back for you too - just keep going, and I hope you enjoy your next run. Oh, and cheese and wine, thank you very much Can I pour you a glass too?
Thank you - I'm lucky to be able to run occasionally in such nice surroundings, although it does worry me slightly that if I drop dead it may be a while till someone finds me
