Seems silly, but what do you people wear to run in?
At present (and since the start actually) I wear -
- a football shirt/training shirt (or similar)
- an Adidas Climacool zipped jacket (black with a couple reflective strips) which is technically football fashion wear (I'm guessing)
- shorts with zipped pockets (essential for phone and keys)
Do I need to get some fluorescent stuff, or even some clothing more bespoke/designed for the purpose of running? I try to stay on pavements where possible, but I do normally run in the dark.
I haven't felt the need for trousers/leggings as yet, don't think I will to be honest.
Any advice welcomed. Thanks.

I just went into sports direct and bought some of their Karrimor items. Ive got a pair of running tights, a couple of tight fitted tops with extra support in them, a pair of capri tights and a long sleeved loose top with thumb holes. If I'm wearing the tights then I stick a set of trackies on top of them.
All my items have some sort of fluorescent patches on them, I usually run during the day but you can never be too careful. Even just get a couple of wrist straps that are fluorescent just to be on the safe side.
Wow you are a better man than me (!) for just wearing shorts...brrrr!!
I think whatever you feel comfortable in, though wicking tops or base layers are best next to the skin to stop you getting cold when you sweat. Not sure what the football shirt is made from.....
I run in the dark too during the week and only feel safe in my high-viz jacket though mine is bright pink - maybe not quite your colour!!!! I think if you are an urban runner having to cross roads though you do need to be visible to the traffic.Oh, a cap and gloves in this weather too.....
But on that note and apropos of nothing, I went ski-ing one year and there was this bloke (about 60) who wore tweed plus fours and jacket, with a shirt and tie and deerstalker hat to go ski-ing! We nicknamed him the Mad Professor. He used to ski DOWN the tracks of the banana lift with the flaps of his deerstalker fluttering in the wind! It was the most inappropriate clothing I've ever seen anyone ever wear for any kind of sporting activity!
What you are wearing sounds fine to me jazz! You are brave wearing shorts in this weather! I'm wearing winter running tights, long sleeve top with a running jacket on top. I've also started wearing a running hat and gloves. I think it's important to be seen so the reflective stripping can't be done enough! I've invested in some running socks which are great, they really make a difference.
My jacket is getting a bit big for me now, so I'll get a bespoke running jacket next with a bit more reflective properties to it (still can't bring myself to go neon...!). MandMDirect seem to have some cracking deals on Nike running stuff, so might take a punt on one of them.
Not had cold legs at all as yet so the shorts can stay. But I'm having a real problem finding a spare pair with two zipped side pockets!
