Anyone planning to run on Christmas Day? Playlist ideas??

A few of us, Fatmumslim, Rollertoaster and Newbierunner, were discussing this week about running on Christmas Day and running to cheesy Christmas choones! I think I will fit in a run in the morning for some "me" time before everything gets too hectic, weather permitting of course, and so were wondering if anyone would be joining us?

If so, what would be on your Christmas playlist for warm up, 30 min run and cool down music? From the ideas submitted we could put together a good playlist I think!

To get it started with just a few:

Warm up: Mud - Lonely this Christmas

Run: Wizard - I wish it could be Christmas every day; Elton John - Step into Christmas

Cool down: Aled Jones - Walking in the air

Well cheesy!!! Look forward to your ideas....

Sue

It would have to include 'The Power of Love', Frankie goes to Hollywood.

Not cheesy, but a great track I think, and the original is better than the one on the John Lewis advert!

totally agree. the video is a bit naff though :)

Definitely Slade! I can't wait for my Christmas morning run!

I would like to include the following please:

"Rocking around the Chistmas Tree" ; (was it Belinda Lee????)

"All I want for Christmas is you" (Mariah Carey -- can't get much cheesier than that ;-)

"Do they know it's Christmastime?" (Band Aid)

I admire your dedication, folks! As much as I love running, I most definitely won't be out there on Christmas day :-)

I was thinking of Boxing day, to burn off the overindulgence on Christmas day, no playlist yet... :)

I can't wait for my Christmas run! After "virtual running" to my song selections, I have a revised version below :)

Warm up:

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - Bing Crosby

Last Christmas - Wham!

Actual Run:

Step into Christmas - Elton John

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard

Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade

Mary's Boy Child - Boney M

Merry Christmas Everyone - Shakin Stevens

Christmas Lights - Coldplay

Fairytale of New York - Pogues & Kirsty MacColl

Cool down:

Driving home for Christmas - Chris Rea

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Michael Buble

Beat that for cheese!! :D

Unbeatable my dear! Intend to download immediately!

Love it!!

Abso-bloomin-lutely, that's the playlist! :)

How fab would it be if we all did our Christmas Day runs with the same playlist in the same order and had a virtual group Christmas run together!

Reply

Sounds brilliant!! Bring it on.........

Reply

I'm in for that!! sounds awesome!

Reply

Depending on the weather on Xmas morning, I will either be walking up Penyfan or running up the forestry, but I havent used music whilst running for months as I enjoy the peace and quiet too much.

Reply

If I had your backdrop for running I would be the same - no music......

Reply

I'm planning on trying to get out for a run, whether I am allowed to by kids/hubby I don't know.

I hadn't planned on a specific playlist as I normally listen to an audiobook, but..........

Reply

Don't think I will get one in christmas day but will be out boxing day :).

Reply

Boxing day for me too. I did it last year, before everyone got up and it was bliss.

Reply

Just picked up on this - sounds like a great idea, and I agree with delia, you can go on to eat your Christmas meal without worrying about the calories. I'm going to download the same list. One idea though.... I'd have to warm down to Walking in the Air, even if I end up crying as usual!

I had a thought today! Who wants to wind up parents/get kids over-excited? Do you run in the early morning? Try running with these on.... ebay.co.uk/itm/380484643184... I'm going to look in Early learning centre for some on Thursday. ;)

Especially if you went out early on boxing day or even new years day when everyone were feeling a tad worse for wear...hehe!!

Reply

Oooh they are great! I reckon one of these would be a great addition too:

love the idea of christmas run 'together' brilliant music and I can't wait to get my sleigh bells, what a fab idea. Might give that hat a miss though, but I do have a sant hat I can start wearing, will wait until end of next week to start going out in my xmas bling (may add some tinsel and mistletoe, you never know ;-) :-p

Reply

Love to playlist, can I add two to it?

Santa Baby by either Eartha Kitt or Madonna (if anyone can find that version)

Santa Claus is coming to town by Jackson 5 I think

Think I'll give the bells and hat a miss though (bah humbug :p ) might add a bit of tinsel though..

Reply

That should read "Love the playlist" ooops

Reply

I definitely want to run on Christmas day, but not to music - I'm a bit of a bah humbug when it comes to Christmas and LOATH Christmas songs! BUT, a local boy is planning to run a marathon on the local running track on Xmas day to raise money for charity as a member of his family has leukemia. My eldest boy (who knows him) has forbidden me to run with him - but I'm bloody well going to for a few laps to give him support - it's gonna be well boring running endlessly round a 400m track!

A brilliant reason to run on xmas day if ever there were one Viv! X

Only just picked this up - been off for two weeks with chest infection - loving all the playlist ideas - I was planning a boxing day morning run as dont think will get away before then - this has absolutely made my mind up - brilliant idea :-) Now I just have to work out how to download all those songs....

Thanks everyone, I knew I just had to get back on here to get that motivation back - you are all sooo positive :-)
