Well...fail. Due to a combination of factors my first run of week 8 didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. I got to the 15min mark and my left shin was so stiff that I was barely able to lift my foot. I stopped and walked the rest of the way home in pain. I don’t think I stretched enough, I didn’t do my usual 10min warm up walk and I wasn’t mentally/emotionally prepared. Massive disappointment BUT it was a 15 min run and let's just say that was a practise run. Week 8: Run 1 rebooted to come.

No, no, no!!!!! It wasn't a "f***" (I don't care for that dirty f word that you used!! It was a warm-up!! Maybe you were trying out your new socks? Maybe you were checking the neighborhood for lost pets? Maybe you saw space aliens invading so you decided to scare them off? Anything, ANYTHING, but not a "fai*"
Regroup and give it another try...I am sure that you will be fine!!
Keep Running!! (And watch out for those aliens or lost pets or new socks!!)

All kidding aside Life, please be careful with that shin pain. It sounds like you changed your routine a bit (less stretching and warming up) and you may want to go back to what you were doing. Another blogger on here has just returned to running after a long battle with shin pain and I don't want to see anyone else have the same battle!!
Take care!!
Steve
I thought they had software to eliminate that dirty 'f' word on this forum
As Steve said, it was just a practice run. Do be careful with the shins, I'd probably go out for an 'exploratory' run next time, do your usual longer warm up and if you do run for 28 minutes then count it as that run, but don't go out with that as a committed goal, in case the shin thing has not resolved. This is my personal strategy for avoiding the 'f' word, it's worked for me so far
Good luck.

p.s. Steve, you are so funny, I love your response
Thank you, Vix!! I was hoping to get a few laughs out of that one!! I just feel that, all too often we put too much emphasis on one individual run. We all have bad days and bad runs. Those bad days aren't life-ending, we just need to keep them in the proper perspective!!
Keep Running!!
