I treadmilled this morning as I need to get to work and like my extra time in bed, so it's a short sharp run, usually speed on the treadmill.
Today I did what I'm calling speed+. I followed week 1 from C25K as speed's not really been stretching me (obviously not running fast enough at 165bpm). So week 1 if we can remember back that far is 5 minutes warm up walk which I ran at 'normal' speed, 1 minute run, still at normal speed, 90 seconds walk, this was my fast section, 11 lights on the treadmill which should equate to 11kph or thereabouts if the LCD display hadn't run out of battery. This 1 minute/90 seconds is repeated 8 times in week 1, I did 5 repetitions which was plenty, both due to being cream crackered and having to get back to shower and get to work. So total run was about 10 minutes at normal speed and 7.5 minutes at ultra fast.
The hardest part was going faster when Laura was telling me to slow down and recover with 90 secs of walking, she's got me well programmed!
And her music, what about her music I hear you ask......
The first track on the warm up walk for week 1 is....'This is the greatest day'
Yep, I agree with that, for us as the first day as potential runners, for Laura as she's got a new minion to brainwash into enjoying this running lark!
