So it was really icy outside when I woke up this morning. The car windows were covered in ice and the path was feeling a bit slippy. What do people do when the footpaths ice up. I've seen some crampons you can attached to the bottom of your running shoes but they seem a bit extreme unless theres been several inches of snow. Although this does sound like fun if we get loads of snow this winter!

I haven't had this problem yet but tracks and trails are probably a better option if there are any near you. I suspect ice on tarmac is trickier than snow or thick ice in a way, trail shoes would probably work well in snow as would the ice grippers you can buy. Can you run on the grass at a nearby playing field or park ? If it is really treacherous, I'd probably opt for an intervals session on the treadmill - wouldn't want to risk slipping and injury, or slipping into the path of traffic. I'm hoping to get a chance to run in snow though
