3rd outing in couch to 5k training plan today. Plenty of snow here, and ice too on the country roads, so dug out my long-disused yaktrax and put them on my running shoes. Worked like a dream! Great to run without fear of slipping. Main worry was the occasional car in case they slid into me, but we all survived intact

Looking really good! Well done
Hadn't thought of running with them. I have something similar which are great for walking on compacted ice but hadn't considered running with them.
I was thinking of that myself today, strangely enough - even dug them out. But the pavements here are now slushy so they wouldnt be any help at all. I would love to see your times running with those 😉
Lots of folks use Yaktrax to run in Canada. I like the ones with little spikes as opposed to the coils as they are tough to run on when you hit a bare pavement patch. I've also heard good things of the ones with little chains. Happy running
Mine are the ones with coils. Reviews at the time of buying were better as the studs were dropping off very quickly. There was still plenty of snow /compacted ice cover yesterday so no need to run on bare tarmac
Yes, I have lost a few spikes. My problem is that our location gets massive freeze-thaw-snow cycles so it's usually a real mixed bag of surfaces. I have also seen internet clips on people taking old running shoes and adding screws. There is also a company that sells trainers with studs. 'Icebugs'. I'm hoping to make it to the shop and have a look in person. It's really nice to not be limited by the weather.
Mine are coils too. I dug them out when we went to Iceland late October/early November, but it was mild with no snow😳
