My penultimate run was last night after work; the light was fading fast, the leaves were falling and giving me a slippery carpet to run on, it was unseasonably warm and I really felt ready to run as my last one was on Sunday. I had a 5k route planned to see if I could manage that for the first time too though I wasnt sure if I would....
My gear was all laid out on the bed so off I went, bumping into my neighbour on the way out who cheekily offered to give me a lift to help me on my way....! The first 5 mins were used as normal to get my breathing under control and then I just ran, and ran and ran with hardly any effort, no breathing problems, no aches and pains and no hitting that wall after 20 mins wanting to stop. I knew half way through it that this run felt different to all the others previously; it was just how I imagined running should feel - enjoyable, paced well and almost effortless! It felt like I was just flying, even on the inclines; it was just such a good feeling. I also knew that I was going to complete the 5k route with no problem - and I did - in 33.8 mins so really pleased with that!
I am still on a high from running the furthest I have ever run in my life and I would so love every run to feel like that one, though of course I know it wont, but I am enjoying the moment and now looking forward to my final run on Friday or Saturday!! I hope it will be another good one but however it turns out it will be my graduation run and that will make it special in its own way.....
Good luck to everyone else graduating over the coming days; we are almost at the finish line!!

Well done Sue, I can only dream of such runs. No, seriously, last night I dreamt I was running with an old friend and I glided along rather than the reality of my puffing lumber.
Thanks Susy! I am really looking forward to running post grad with no pressure of times and distances unless I want there to be and just being able to run cos I want to and enjoy doing it!
Excellent, Sue!! It is an amazing feeling to have a run like you have just had!! To know that you have completed the full 5K distance is a wonderful feeling in itself!!!
One more run and you will be shining that gorgeous little badge!! Keep running...you are almost there!!!
Thanks Steve, I will soon be joining the graduate class of 2012! I wish you best of luck in the 5K's you have coming up with Gayle and glad you are still around on here!
Thanks so much! I wish I could bottle that feeling and hope that I get some more like this one. When you have a good run it makes you realise that all the hard work over the 9 weeks has truely been worth it. Cant wait to graduate now and join the gang!
Oh what a fantastic run!!! Amazing Sue! Must have felt like a dream to you. What a boost to your penultimate run tomorrow. Bottle the feeling, then you might repeat it on your Graduation run. So pleased for you
Good luck and looking forward to you Graduation blog :-0
Thanks so much Colette! It was such a great feeling...... I'm not sure it will be repeated on my grad run (may do it tonight, see if I get home before it is too dark) but if not thats fine, I will have completed the programme and thats the main thing!
Big congrats on graduating today too - I'm going to read your blog now and send you bigger wishes on that! Sx
