2 weeks rest and totally deflated!

I was doing really well on W7R1, cue back pain and two weeks forced rest. I attempted to run as far as I could tonight and barely made 10 mins before I was out of breath and my calves were solid with pain! I feel totally deflated and at a loss as to where to go from here?????

Try going back to week 1 or 2 podcasts and increase slowly. I did this after injury and it worked for me.

good luck.

I understand how you're feeling, I'd just completed week 5 when I had to take 1 week off due to a stained piriformis muscle (which is literally a pain in the bum) I attempted to pick up where I left off and tried to complete W6R1 this morning but didn't manage it. I now plan to go back to week 5 and start from there and see how I go.

I think once you've had a injury it takes a little longer to recover and I certainly think it shook my confidence a little.

Good luck and keep at it!

I agree, don't ever be afraid to take a step backwards, this whole process is about building stamina, especially towards the end, and whilst in the past I have been lucky in the earlier stages and been able to pick up from where I left off after 10 days out, I would have had no hesitation in going back a stage or two.

So dont get to disheartened, get your gear on, roll back to week 6 or even try a Week 5 run, and get out there and do it!....our bodies are amazing and will quickly remember the feelings we had after completing each and every run!

See you at the finish line....

Yes I agree with what everyone else has said, please don't be too deflated. You are getting yourself up off the couch. Every run is a good run, even if you have to go back a couple of weeks.
