Hey all
Do any of you know about running with a metranome, is it any good and does it make your running better.
Will be interested to know.
Hey all

I don't run to a metronome but I read recently about "efficient running" and running to a certain pace is good. I try to run at a fair pace, and when I stretch and warm up I listen to music at 180bpm. I just enjoy listening to the music, I don't know whether I would get fud up of the metronome.
I confess I am interested in hearing how other people get on. Here is a link to a video which started me off and the guy uses a metronome app. My running (not with a metronome, but at a faster pace) is now much more comfortable on my joints.
Yes I have sen that video I thought he seemed to be doing it quite fast.
It does seem fast. I will get there one day.... In the meantime I have been practicing running with faster cadence and foot fall under my hip as much as possible, and I am surprised with the difference it has made.
If I find my ankles or feet starting to hurt, I adjust my running because I have usually lapsed into a longer stride with heel strike. This shorter stride means I can run for much longer because I get much less pain in my joints, so I don't get exhausted so quickly. I know its not for everyone, but it works for me!
I use music that I choose for the bpm. I'm a musician and I think a metronome would drive me bonkers listening to it running! I find my easiest pace between 185-195bpm and it helps you to be more light-footed - since I upped my cadence about six weeks ago my legs have been much happier. I used barefoot audio for coaching this faster cadence and I found it extremely helpful.
I bought a couple of mp3s from Audiofuel that have songs created at a specific bpm.
Very much like a metronome they have 4 beats every bar and the idea is to run in time to the beats.
There's also someone speaking given you the run down so you will get told, "Run in time to the beat, 1, 2, 3, 4" or "Lock onto the beat!". A bit cheesy but fun I know.
I've found them great since I have started doing longer 2 hour runs as they help me to pace myself so I don't get tired out too soon.
I have to say that the making of this gadget is very poorly thought out, who in their right mind would run for 30-120 minutes holding something which emitted a sharp beep to their ear. 1, it would not be good for your hearing. 2, It would not be good for your posture. I'm with Suki music is much more civilized.
