This week lasted a little longer than I had planned, but sometimes life finds a way to get in the way of your running!! First run was completed last Thursday and went extremely well, very pleased with myself but felt a bit of a twinge in my knee, so penciled my next run in for Sunday to allow for a bit of extra recovery.
Saturday night.......I am sure that you have all had one of those Saturdays where you have no plans, but all of a sudden things just fall into place?! After agreeing to go out for a meal off the cuff, come 1:30 Sunday morning I found myself drinking jugs of WooWoos in Yates amongst the local scruff bags and undesirables! I woke on Sunday morning fully clothed and with half a Ryvita and Philadelphia (garlic and herb) firmly attached to my cheek. I don't remember anything much about the evening, other than talking to a rather attractive young lady, and was pleasantly surprised to find a mobile number in someone else's writing in my pocket. I left that on the mantelpiece whilst I concentrated on becoming human again.
After porridge, orange juice (2 pints) two slices of toast with tinned plum tomatoes and my own body weight in tea, I decided I felt remarkably better, and so dug out my running gear.
Normally I run at dawn or dusk, however, I strode out shortly after mid day, heading towards the park full of mums, dads and kids enjoying what was a beautiful sunny day. I'll never forget the smirk on on the face of one sour faced old cow as I came galloping toward her and her children, she looked at me as if I had just dropped out of a dogs bottom, I could do nothing but smile and gasp 'afternoon'!
Now this run was proving extremely hard, all I could taste was WooWoo and I was breathing so heavily I was virtually chewing my own lungs! But I did it! I pushed through every barrier and finished, it felt better than all the others put together, as I was soooo close to giving up, the only thing that kept me going was that old battle axes face.....
Anyway, all those endorphins are running through my body, I felt unbeatable, I got home, laid in the bath, and text that number..... 'Hi this is Sedge, we met last night, just wanted to make sure you got home safely, and to see if you fancy doing it again sometime?' ...... I was delighted that I got such a quick response...... 'Hi Sedge this is Dave from Solo Taxis, I got home safely thanks! I always work Saturday so let me know if you need to book next weekend'......
I did run three today......thankfully nothing much happened......
