Is this meant to be fun???

Waking early, and creeping out of bed, while hubby pulls the duvet higher and closer around him. Trying to find the socks that are not where you put them the night before. Creeping down the stairs so not to wake the rest of the family. Tripping over the cat, who is sitting on the bottom stair. Finding charge on MP3 player is so low, will possibly only last for 2-3 minutes. Setting out wondering if the big black clouds will stay away long enough to get home again. Passing dubious looking dogs (and some dubious dog owners too) wondering if the dog really is under control. ..and watching where you're going (just in case the dogs have been there before). Wondering if the looming hill will ever come to an end. Hoping the level crossing will be open to save having to go up the steps across the bridge and down again. Getting home to find rest of house just stirring. Having to fight for the shower!

Looking out of the window, and seeing it is not raining. Grabbing the running gear and heading down stairs. Pulling on gloves to keep fingers warm. MP3 loaded with energizing music. Opening the door to the fresh morning air. Seeing the last tinges of the red morning sky. Seeing squirrels scurrying around. Getting a cheery 'morning' from other early morning runners (and trying hard to reply and not look too much of a novice). Getting all road crossings made, without any cars coming. Sensing the achievement of knowing that you are on the homeward bound section, and have done the first half already. Looking forward to the rest of the run!. The healthy glow, as you return home (or red blotchy face!). The sense of "I did it" there with you for the rest of the day......

........ and then working out when the next run will be!!! Fun? Yes definitely!

Great blog, thank you! It really struck a chord with me, that reluctance to go out is so quickly displaced by the buzz of being out there and RUNNING!

Shame I could not get the 'running spirit' this morning. Just could not get going.
