Of all the things I thought would stop me running...

When I started the couch to 5K as an over weight unfit 37 yr old who not done much exercise since school I foresaw many hurdles along the way. I thought it might just be too hard or I would had trouble with my knees, or back or a totally new injury. It's gone really well so far and I've managed to keep going through various trips away during the school holidays and last week I finished week 7.

Then 5am on Saturday we awoke to find we had no power, when I went downstairs I found hot water pouring through the ceiling (and through an extractor fan, hence the power outage), the hot water cylinder has burst! So now we have only the hot water we can make from boiling a kettle & pans on the hob. I can get enough warm water in the bottom of the bath to have a good wash but I can't face the idea of running without being able to have a proper shower afterwards!

I'm just crossing my fingers I have the momentum to keep going after a break when we get our hot water back and I hope writing it on here will feel like some sort of commitment to doing that. On the plus side I am getting plenty of lower impact (& less sweaty) exercise cleaning up the place & carrying buckets of water around the house.

Poor you, what a nightmare. Just dealing with the situation sounds horrendous without adding post-run showers into the mix. I'm sure you wil be able to pick up where you left off, and being on week 7 you'll be motivated to crack on and finish just as soon as your hot water problem is sorted. When I had a cold the other week and knew I'd not do very good runs, I did Laura's strength and flex podcasts which were good without making me sweaty!

Best of luck, hope it's soon all back to normal in the Littleton household, and you can get back to running.

Thanks Soozz, that's a good idea, I downloaded the 1st strength & flex podcast a couple of weeks ago & gave it a try but didn't get as far as fitting it in to my routine, I had planned to fit use it on my rest days.

It's not too much of a nightmare now you just find ways to deal with it, both my boys started new schools last week & it certainly wasn't the relaxing stress free weekend we were hoping for.

Do you have a leisure centre or swimming pool nearby, why not have a run to the pool and have a dip and shower there. I love swimming, in fact would rather do that than run, but you'd be killing two birds etc. Just a thought lol. I hope you get your heating and water back on soon x

Wet wipes are great too if you really want to do your usual run. I Hope things get back to normal soon, and most of all - don't worry :)
