So basically I had the day off work and decided to do my final run of week 6. Straight after waking up. I don't know why I did it as I knew i would fail. After 18mins I stopped. Went back home and felt like shit. I went back to the gym later that evening and completed it! Now it's week seven. No more interval training is so daunting ! I haven't run since last week Thursday. Ahh running for 25 mins is tough !
Help. Fail week 7 run 1: So basically I had the... - Couch to 5K
Help. Fail week 7 run 1
Don't you worry, it doesn't sound like failure to me! Think how far you've come since week 1!
Keep calm and carry on, as the saying goes. I did exactly the same..stopped at 18 mins on my first attempt at week 6 run 3, completed it on the next run.
I've been doing treadmill but decided over the last couple of weeks I need to try outdoors...so did week 5 run 1 outdoors (which was HARD) on Thursday. Got off my lazy behind and just did week 7 run 1 today (on the treadmill).
These folk who design the programme really seem to know what they're doing...loads of people find week 6 a real slog (check out the poll on the site). I'm sure it's after the high of doing w5r3...you feel invincible. It becomes more of a mental challenge at this point, I think, to keep going without intervals. And the good news if if you've got this far your body can definitely keep going and you can do it. Underlined by the fact I just did...believe me, if I can do it anybody can. Good luck and please let us know how you go
I totally agree with beatasthma and pelephant! I just ran 1 of week 6 last night and I have a feeling the other 2 may not be any better! It is so mental right at this point! I ran 20 minutes solid the week before but I also know I psyched myself up to KNOW I could do it. In my mind, I thought week 6 would be a piece of cake after coming from week 5. I was so wrong! The program seems to be designed to take a bit of wind out of our sails at times and realize we are still new at this running business. You are doing great and it was amazing that you went out the same day and completed the run. You have proved you have what it takes to finish this program.
I also failed week 6 run 3 the 1st time. Week 6 is a tough week. You can do it and you will. Stick with it and it will come. Try a change of scene. I did my week 8 run 1 yesterday is a new place and it really worked.
