Definitely was loving the ceremony, although absolutely exhausted now and want to get to sleep! Wondering how much longer this is going to go on for!

I have to agree! I love the Beatles music but do think they should stop rolling him out!!!

I completely agree; the only low point was Paul McCartney. Apart from the very obvious technical problems in his gig, he really hasn’t got the voice anymore. Elbow singing 'Throw those curtains wide’ would have been a much better way to finish; ‘Hey Jude’ is tired now.

I have to say that I thought the Arctic Monkeys rendition of the Beatles’ number was fantastic! So, well done Danny Boyle - you told a story brilliantly! And go Team GB!

Agree. His standard 'Hey Jude' set. Such a cliche. Still, its one of the few worldwide singalongs there is I suppose.

Loved it! I was cynical right up to the start then actually shed a tear at certain parts. I loved how they handed the flame to the next generation. So inspirational. However one complaint I was planning on 5am run this morning however due to not getting to bed until almost 1am now too tired! Will have to run this afternoon instead!! But in all seriousness it was fantastic, showed Britain at it's best

I agree, proud to be British. Like you AliB1, I was supposed to get up early and do 5k before a weekend of decorating but have just woken up. Oh well, it was worth it. Spectacular!

Well I enjoyed some parts of the opening ceremony but not others, too much dancing not enough patriotic british display. Felt I was watching a musical at times. But the lighting of the final flame was great.

Oh and those suits worn by the British team, white with gold foil, where was the red white and blue?

Stayed up to watch it though.

We know the NHS is about more than hospital beds, don't we? I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would - bits I didn't care for personally but it wouldn't have been inclusive if it hadn't been that way.

Loved it and felt really proud...tho I agree about SIr Paul! There were so many special moments in it, for something to be so spectacular and yet meaningful was fantastic. Job done, Danny Boyle - and how! And Go, Team GB!

I was a huge cynic but was quickly won over. Best opening ceremony I've ever seen. A game changer. Boyle is an utter genius, the miserable Queen should've knighted him right there and then.

Only problem is from reading around on the web most other people (americans?) hated it. Humour and cultural references lost on them?

Yes, my dog has got lots of Americans and other nationalities as facebook friends, and most of them didn't seem impressed at all.... Comments were along the lines of "What's the point if you have to explain every single bit?" "Boring" and a lot thought it was too boasting - thing is tho, how can you showcase your country without a bit of "boasting"? Admittedly, even though I've lived in the UK since 1996, I probably didn't "get" all the subtleties and and references, but I still thought it was brilliant (apart from the Macca moment)

I started a new job on Monday after 5 months out of work and was so exhausted I fell asleep within 10 minutes of the ceremony starting I really wanted to watch it!

Never mind, I've seen and heard lots of good things about it and can confirm the general consensus is ..... Macca needs to retire once and for all and stop embarrassing our people
