At the age of 47 I just ran 10k for the first time ever without stopping. I did it in an hour and 8 minutes, and at the end I was singing along with "Shake it off" coming down the slope by the swings, complete with hand actions. Apologies to Taylor Swift, and the year 10's from the local Comp who were sitting on the said swings in their lunch hour. I think I put them off their fags.

Aw Allie , Well done !

You are doing brilliantly ! Fab stuff , really pleased for you :-)

Aw you gotta love Swifty. Ive got that on my playlist too , you've got to sing your nut off to it, I like that bit where she goes ;

" Just think while you've been getting down and out about the liars and dirty, dirty cheats in the world, you could have been getting down to this sick beat "

Love it ! :-) xxx

Wow that's fantastic! Well done. I'm going to try for my 10k next week ... if all the planets align ....

I like a bit of TS myself though I haven't got any on my running pod. Hmmm.

Ha ha - love the picture of the Yr 10s puffing away. That takes me back. I used to go down to the canal for a quick smoke before school in the 6th form. The owner of the pub nearest school used to sell us cigs individually - can you believe it??!!

Goodness, I really am on a big trip down memory lane today!

I wasn't a smoker at that age but when I was in secondary school there was an ice-cream van that used to come every lunchtime and he sold "singles" too.

If you still have enough puff to be singing at the end you're not running hard enough!

Seriously though, well done. Great result.

Well done! Shake it off is on my running playlist and I always hope it comes on before the cool down time! I am the same age as you and it's amazing what we can do!

Hello AllieG and very well done you! I know that feels fanTastic! Big step taken! Revel in that achievement!

Even in this day and age are there still Year 10 kids smoking??? I'd have thought as they have their heads down in the Net all the time they'd have picked up that everyone's given up (or is making an effort to). You could maybe do that thing you did today every day around break time, service to the youth of your community and all that!

Cool runnings to you :-)

Great stuff. No stopping! I can barely do that now!! Mind you I quite like a stop now and then, it gets me to the end without dying. Needs must and all that

So, you have to do it again now! Well not as in right this minute, but soon. Very soon. LOL
