Well I found it harder than the first one, I managed to complete it although the last two runs were very slow. My thighs ache, and I cann't imagine how I am ever going to run for more than 60 seconds!!!
W1R2 - I thought it was meant to get easier!!! - Couch to 5K
W1R2 - I thought it was meant to get easier!!!
I know exactly hw you feel.... I could never imagine running for more than 60seonds but I've just done 3 minutes!!!!!! For some strange reason the programme works, just a word of warning though, it doesn't get any easier!!!!! X
Nicolaclaire! It does get easier - it just never gets easy! Every run is a challenge but the initial aches and pains do get better and as your runs get longer it becomes more a question of belief and trusting the programme. At least that is what I found. There are hundreds of us on this site who can testify that it really is possible to get from the couch to running for 30 minutes from pretty unpromising beginings! I did week 1 three times before I felt ready to move on and here I am now polishing my shiny, new graduate badge! No-one who knew me (including myself) would have thought I was a runner back in Feb when I started! So hang in there springsteen (and you nicolaclaire ! ). This really does work
I felt exactly the same - and on my last run I managed to go for 20 minutes non stop. Who am I??? For some reason I always find the second run of each week a bit harder. But it never gets worse than the feeling you have now, each week has taken me to my limit, the same limit you're taken to in week 1, I'd you see what I mean!
You will get there too... Just trust Laura
Onwards and upwards then! I'm glad it's a rest day today though, but I plan to walk to the shops later instead of driving (at least that's the plan at the moment!)
Thanks for the encouragement - it reallly helps
Some runs are good, some aren't! Personally I always find the second run of the week hardest. You just have to accept that with running, like in everthing else too, some days will just be a bad day and forget about it once it's over.
Like you, I couldn't imagine running for more than a minute when I started and now I am on week five.
You can do it, just keep going! GOOD LUCK!
You CAN do it. Seriously... you CAN!
every run's a winner
Keep going. I just completed week 2 today and by the end felt like I hadn't done enough so looking forward to the step up next week. Your body is maybe still adapting to using the muscles it wasn't using before, just don't give into it, keep imagining the day you feel no aches after a run, because you will get there. Fighting through the aches and hard days makes the achievement feel even better when you have overcome it. Trust in the programme and more importantly trust in yourself. You CAN do it. Good luck.
I agree with the comment about the second run of the week being the hardest. Just keep going til Laura tells you to stop then you can smile like an idiot because you nailed it! You did, you really did. Just do each run without thinking about the next one.
Good luck
