Yay, I did it!!! First proper race today...number and chip timing...woo hoo. I did the 5.6km (the 0.6km is very important I tell you!) JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge this evening at Battersea Park. Despite the rain just before the start (sun came out later) I LOVED it. Well OK, if I'm really honest loved it before the start, survived the run and loved it once I'd finished!!!!!

Don't know how many people were there but would guess a couple of thousand (took me over 16 mins to get over the start line!!). The atmosphere was great and although I found it tough I did it and finished in 39 min 40 seconds. Average pace was 6.56mins per km which is 10 secs slower than Saturday's park run but for the first time I ran over 5km non stop (that's why the 0.6km is so important)! Even managed a sprint at the end!

To top it all there was food and beer at the end...what more could I want? Bring on next year when I'll be going loads faster!!! Now to think about the next race.

:) :) :) :)....that's me smiling!!!! For now I'm loving my running!!!!!!

wow! 10000 runners! Isn't that a wonderful sight stretched out ahead of you? A "river" of bobbing heads!

You're bitten by the race bug now.....they are fun (especially when there's beer at the finish line)!

Good luck in your next event!
