First proper race!!

One of my goals since graduating was to run a Park Run. Today was my first Saturday not working since way before I started running. Even though it was raining I thought today's the day!!

Of I went, managed to squeeze the car into a small gap in the car park. I got out the car, stood at the boot shaking like a leaf, a nice man walked past and said good morning, this brought me to my senses and of I went to find the start. I heard a voice shout "any first timers" WOW that's me!! I jogged over, there were five or six of us. It was great we were welcomed and the course was explained and before I knew it we were off.

The start was down hill, then down by the river, through the woods then up some steps onto the field, round the field then back round again twice more. The steps were a killer, but I made it!!!

I finished 99th out of 126 in 34:45, 5th in my age group!! I felt absolutely knackered when I finished huffing and puffing, the uphill finish was hard, but seconds after finishing I was fine my recovery rate is amazing from when I started C25K.

The people at the finish were really encouraging with their congratulations and well done's, and the man with the bar code reader see you next week. I can't wait for my next Saturday off to go again.

I still can't believe I've done it!!

I sneaked off, didn't tell hubby I was going - just in case I couldn't do it, he's almost more chuffed than me!!

I work almost every Saturday so I'll struggle to get to park run, BUT now I know the route I will be doing it on a Sunday instead!!
