Well, today me and my family did the midi urban run. It's a 2.5k run with 10 obstacles thrown in. The advert says you'll climb, slip, slide, crawl ( you get the idea!) I really don't know what was going through my mind when I signed us up, temporary insanity!

Anyway, we got there nice and early, it wasn't raining so I was feeling pretty positive, I wasn't to worried cause although I'm only on week2 I know that my runs are just over 3k, and I was figuring that the obstacles would give me an excuse to have a rest every couple of minutes, what I didn't figure into the equation was that the obstacles would be evil!!!!!!

So 12.15 arrives and we get called up for a 'warm up' all I have to say on the matter is ........ Star jumps! Did thy really expect us to be able to run after a 15 minute warm up involving star jumps???? What happened to a brisk walk?

Anyway, my other half had to push me up the first obstacle which was a big inflatable triangle, and then I gracefully rolled down the other side ( the photographer got a lovely shot of my backside, very flattering) the second one was a climbing wall, up one side down the other, then commando crawling under a net...... Next, the firemans slide, we had to launch ourselves on our belly down a hill whilst being soaked by a firemans hose....OMG!

Now I had the extra weight of my clothes to run with and more obstacles......

I think I was the only non proper runner there and came last, but I did it in 18 minutes.... Its only down to Laura that I did it at all!!!!

So all in all feeling quite proud!

Looking forward to week 3!

lovely! And how great for your family to see you joining in. they won't be able to complain when, in two months' time you ask them to go on your parkrun! See how they all get on then:)

Well done. Sounds like hard work but crazy fun. Don't think I'll be attempting anything like that on my week 2 though. ;)
