Half marathon training: just a daunting plan at the moment.

My half marathon 12 week training programme is up on the wall and it'll be all systems go from Monday! Is it too childish to use gold stars at the end of every completed week!?!

I have also changed my entry from unaffiliated to showing NHS Couch to 5k as my running club! I had to do it officially via 'sports systems' who are looking after entries and they did it straight away :)

I thought that if we are doing this for parkruns then we could do it for races too, what do you think?

Exactly what I was thinking too ...just not entered any races other than parkrun yet.

Gold stars? PERFECT! Why not? Training for a half deserves LOTSA gold stars at the end of every week....

Great thinking on the C25K club affiliation!

Excellent idea. I just registered for parkrun and never thought to put in C25K. Hope to do my first one next week

nice idea, I"ll try that as well.

Really interested to follow your half-marathon preparation as we are on the same trajectory. Any hints and tips gratefully shared :-)

When is yours again, before or after the NHS C25k meet-up? Mine is on September 23rd.

Mine is the weekend before. 16th I think.

Sounds like a plan to me - good luck with the training :-)

I like it! I am starting week 1 of eight weeks 10k training next week and I will get a pack of stars for that plan on the fridge.

Mietjie, where did you get your training plan from? That sounds like the kind of things i'd like to do post graduation.

I think the one I am going to follow is from runningbug site

Stars are a great idea. I once went to a slimming club where they gave you a picture of a women's silhouette divided into 14 boxes. Each time you lost a lb they gave you a coloured dot to stick in one of the squares. Never has losing a stone been so much fun.
