I discovered Parkrun in March this year and decided to give it a go since I was used to taking my dog for walks that were around 5k long and took just over an hour. I was made to feel welcome and not sneered at for walking more than I ran. My first one took 53:30 min.

I started C25K in April, Just finished week 5 (YAY!!!!0 this week after repeating a few of the earlier weeks.

Today was Parkrun No. 11 . I did a warmup walk of 5 min and then intervals of 90s run / 50s walk to the end. Fortunately the rain held off. The wind, however, did not. Indeed it felt like I was running backwards for most of the latter half. No PB this week according to my official time which was 43:41 791/793. Runtastic, the app I use on my android phone, recorded me as covering the 5k in 42:25 (which would have been a PB) and cheered me up.

Week 6 starts on Monday.

LOL on the "running backward"....sometimes it feels like you can actually lean right on the wind and it will hold you up, doesn't it?

Great progress...good on you, KAN....You are doing so well, you must be very happy right now!

Really inspirational. I loved my first parkrun and wished I had done it a lot sooner. Try it out everyone!

What an excellent time improvement. That IS progress!

Do you really have nearly 800 people at your ParkRun? O.o

I go to the Bushy Parkrun ...the original parkrun ... good residential catchment area and its FLAT and, for some people, fast. On Jan 7th this year there were 1000 runners ...more recently its been between 750 and 900.

Well done There's a great fit between C25k and Parkruns - sense of community but informal enough to set your won pace and goals.
