Question about Parkruns...

I have registered and got my barcode but still not sure if I am confident enough to brave a parkrun, especially in my home town where I might see people I know!

I have looked at the photos and they all look so professional! One thing I have noticed is that no one seems to be wearing earphones. On the web site it says that they would rather people don't wear them as it is a social event but the thought of running for 5k without my music, on my own and probably at the back is terrifying.

So my question is - those of you who have done Parkruns, did you or were others listening to music?

Was it a good experience?

I haven't done a parkrun yet (can't find them in Canada so far), but I hope you give it a chance, in your home town no less. I know you are scared to look silly, but I am sure you won't, you already completed C25K. They put pictures up that are intended to inspire people - hey, if I do that, I can look like them too! But surely normal people will also be there. Besides, if you do a local park run, you might just meet some people you know who will cheer you on, and become better friends, and maybe even running partners. :) Good luck!

So long and you can still pay attention to the marshals then its all fine I think. Loads wear them at mine.

I haven't done one yet but my husband did one last week, I grilled him afterwards with lots of questions about it and yes, lots of people were running with headphones so you will be ok. When I eventually do one which shouldn't be too long I am definitely running with headphones :)

I didn't wear any at my first run and I still managed to complete in a personal best time. I didn't really miss the music but I did miss Endomondo telling me my speed. There were a few people wearing earphones but most weren't. It's certainly informal enough to do either.

I'm sure you can wear headphones if you want to, just keep your wits about you. If you're unsure just ask the parkrun volunteers when you get there, everyone is really friendly. :)

Ha ha - parkrun virgins :)

I will post my news if I can drag myself out of bed to do it...we get up at 5.30 am every week day so to get up early on Saturday morning would show real dedication!

Good luck with your run...
