I did a 5k for Sport Relief as my graduation run and now (2 months post-graduation) am about to run the Bupa London 10k. Also signed up for a half-marathon in September. There are loads of races you can do, and for me it's been a good thing to have something new to aim for (though I do hate asking people for sponsorship!). Even if you don't sign up for a formal race, have a look at some of the 10k training programmes out there (eg The Running Bug, Bupa, Cool Running) as you'll build up sensibly and also have that great sense of achievement as you tick off the weeks! Have a look at parkrun too - they organise local 5k runs every week and it's great for building up your speed (I've yet to do one but it will be in the next couple of weeks). And/or join your local running club!
Is that enough to be going on with?? Oh and don't forget to message JR21 (admin) for your graduate badge.....
well i think thats a cool list ,thank you . i really do need something like the 10 k training i think to start with and see how that goes .
many thanks i will look them up .
I'm using the bridge to 10k app, joined my local running club and do the parkruns. I'm signed up for a 5k in July and plan to do a 10k run when I'm feeling a bit more confident that I can do it. I'm holding back on the half marathons, the thought is still a bit scarey
Congratulations for making it
congratulations Dave007. You don't say if you have managed 5K in the 30 minutes, lucky you if you have, but if not you could work towards improving your speed for a little while.
