I am going camping this weekend and next to the site is a large plying field so I thought this would be an ideal place for me and Laura to go. Speaking to my friend she said running on grass and tarmac are very different. Anyone done both, if so do I need to be prepared?

Running on grass.....
Hi emzylou,
Running on smooth even grass with no big tussocks, hidden holes or uneveness is much better for your knees, ankles, hips and joints generally. Tarmac is very high impact compared to it. I like running on grass as long as the above conditions are all met...but for surety of foot I prefer to be able to see where my feet are landing with no nasty surprises!!

I much prefer running cross-country to running on the road. It's easier on the joints for a start, and somehow it seems less tiring; I guess because there's less stressful impact on the muscles. Recently it's been a bit of a mud bath though, which is really horrible.
Try it and see.
Enjoy,
Duncan
I have 'treated' myself to a trail run instead of my usual squelch through peaty puddles and dodging bramles and tree roots. I was faster without trying and it made a nice change not to be constantly presented with the spectre of a fall, but it was definitely harder on the body. So long as there isn't a lot of mud and it isn't too tussocky, be prepared for pleasure!
