I am on Week 6 run 3, and at 36 I have started getting a spotty face! eek! has any one else got spotty or does any one know why this could be??? I thought it could be because now that I have reached week 6 and things have stepped up a gear I am starting to sweat more on my face? just an idea?

Yes I've been having some spotting problems too! I used to only get a couple every so often, but have noticed more break outs since I started running. I'm guessing it is probably due to sweating, pores getting clogged etc.
I've started using a daily face scub (Neutrogena one from Boots) and make sure I use it in the shower straight after running which has helped. And of course making sure to drink plenty of water.
thnaks for the tips, I have purchased somemedicated facial scrub to start using and I have also purchased my self a towel to use whilst on the running machine as I am sure using the back of my hand can't be good
I also had spot break outs last year around the same time as starting the programme and at 27 they were the worse spots I ever suffered from, but continued to get worse. I had taken on new excercise routines before and they tended to clear up my skin and get rid of black heads, so I found it strange that all of a sudden I was constantly getting spots. I thought that it was possibly because I was wiping sweat off my face while running as I was touching my face more often than before, but I also started getting them on my thighs, upper arms, back and chest!
In the past year due to other health issues I have been on various different medications that have meant I have had to come on and off different types of contraceptive pill so have never been convinced if it was down to running or not, but friends and family seem to think so, so it would be interesting to hear what others have to say.
I did have a break from running of about 6 weeks in the winter that didn't help clear things up so (maybe it wasn't long enough) following that I saw my GP and now have a lotion that has things under control.
It could be that more sweating is blocking the pores.
Also, in holistic medicine, (I'm not a quack!) spots on the skin are seen as toxins being removed from the deeper tissues and pushed far away as possible, the surface of the skin. Depending on the location of the spots it could point to different organs detoxing. (In general spots on the jaw line area tend to point to hormonal imbalances in women, forehead and cheeks to the digestive system. We know that exercise has a positive effect on hormones in the body).
If you've just started an exercise regime the spots could be a sign of clearing and re-energising the body.
It's like when you're not used to exercise you generally cough more during the first few sessions and can cough up some right ugly mucus as your lungs clear themselves out (bit like giving up smoking).
Hmmmm! interesting, I think you may be right there! Someone else suggested that it could be the toxins coming out as I am deffinetly sweating from the face more now whilst I am running. Thanks for the advise I will monitor it and see the doc if it doesn't clear up within a week or two.
If you're not already doing it, (but I'm sure you are, )drinking enough fluids and making sure you're getting a full balanced diet which includes all the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals will also help to speed up this detoxification and protect your body. When we work out our bodies need more of everything to keep going.
My skin's really good now I'm a runner but I noticed that it was a bit drier due to drying winds - well it can't be sun! So I make sure I moisturise as when it's dry is when I get blocked pores.
