Three years ago I was 22 stone unhappy and very unfit. I am now 12 stone by eating sensibly (NOT dieting!!!!) and on week 4 run 2!! Never posted on here before but you have all inspired me. Went out in the wind and rain today, and looked like a drowned rat by the time I got home, but I didnt care!!! Thank You everyone.

I am so happy to hear this :) I am currently the weight when you started and I completed my first run today.

I am eating sensibly and plan to continue excercising until I am much lower.

12stone is a great achievement, well done. I hope to join you :)

Mwahahahaaaaa.... you have been injected with the running bug!!! So glad you love it - just keep going and it will all fall into place :-)

Also VERY glad to hear you haven't been dieting. I had a normal relationship with food before I started dieting aged 14. Now, aged 55 and 4 stone overweight, I have resolved never to count calories again - but it's quite tough when lots of running websites seem pretty well obsessed with dieting. Having used the Paul McKenna method I'm convinced there is a much better way than WeightWatchers, Slimming World et al. Rant over.

Thank you for your wise comments. I tried Weight Watchers and all the others and they didnt help me because in my head I didnt GET it. If you can get your head right then the rest follows.I used Paul McKenna too and that was the nearest I got, i.e. being positive etc, but for me it was all about starting exercise, and then I felt good and didnt want to eat, anyway I'm rambling now!!

Thank You again xx

Getting your head right is, to me, the key. It doesn't matter what you do - if you're constantly battling with yourself, it's going to be much harder to achieve your goals. But if you do 'click' and your brain buys into it, it should be much easier. calorie count or not, exercise or not, whatever ... if you REALLY want to achieve something, you will

Fantastic achievements Debssey and when I was at your stage I was hiding away and running on a treadmill - now I'm happy to be a public drowned rat and that in itself is an achievement. Keep going! :-)

Well done!!!! You have done amazingly, fantasticly well losing so much weight and having such a positive attitude!!! You should be really, really proud of yourself (which I'm sure you are).

I'm trying to lose weight too as well as the running bit. I've lost 24 pounds so far and still have approximately 4 stones to lose, but I know I will do it!! It's true about exercising - if you've worked hard either at the gym or by running then the last thing you want to do is come home and stuff your face!! I really think exercise changes the way you think about food.

Huge congratulations to you x
