Hi nessynoo, I'm doing ok can't lie find it hard going but starting to enjoy, I'm on wk 6 r2 tomoz, I have a great OH who has helped me and supported me in this journey if it takes 9 weeks or 9 months I will complete it, let me know how u get on, on your next run x
That's a great outlook - I know the journey is going to be hard too, but the end result justifies the journey! I'll look forward to hearing about your sucesses which I'm sure are on the way!
Good for you. If 60 seconds is a struggle, how about slowing down... lots of us have found that the secret of success is finding a sustainable pace... which may not actually be faster than you could walk. It took me nearly 6 weeks to complete 'Week 1' so I thought fair enough, I'm not well, it'll just be a 9 month programme rather than 9 weeks. But actually I've completed every other week in three sessions - so that struggle in Week 1 clearly achieves an awful lot in terms of stamina, mental and physical.
I started out only able to do the first four of the Week 1 runs and gradually built up (always continuing to walk the rest of the session), so you are doing really well.
Thanks Googleme. I felt comfortable at the speed which was pretty slow in comparison to my friends, but I literally ran out of puff and had to go back to walking. I'm confident I'll get past this though! It just might take me a few weeks at stage one to build up the stamina more.
Thanks for taking the time to post to me. It really was helpful. x
So.... your mission for next time might be to run slowly enough to do a full 60 seconds, even if you then walk for the rest of the way but I bet you won't need to. I am sure you can do do the 60 seconds if you had the stamina to do 8 lots of 50 seconds!!!
And whilst it is brilliant that you've got the support, a lot of us have commented that we tend to speed up when there are other people around, so perhaps watch out for that?
I agree with the comment above. I make it my mission to start and stop when prompted, even if this means 'running' at a pace slower than my walk!
I started off at 16st 7lbs at the beginning of January. I'm now doing Cambridge Weightplan Step 2 and got the C25K bug 4 weeks ago and now find myself adicted! I'm now more than 4 stone lighter and find myself looking forward to each run. Who'd have thought it?
Well done, congratulations and stick with it. Find your own pace. I am definitely more of a tortoise than a hare but it is still doing me lots of good.
Haha Shelley - I though for a minute you meant typing your blog while running..... now I think we have discussed doing things at the same time as running - all I can do is blow my nose; needed to sort out my playlist yesterday but it had to wait till a walking break. Next challenge will be to drink water while running. Hmmm.
took me about 8 months to master the jogging & drinking thing. & even now it mucks up my breathing for a little bit
A huge Well done for starting the C25K plan, I'm with the others who advised perhaps slowing the pace to complete each run section. I'm slow, but thats ok, I'm out there all the same
Good luck for run 2 and yes, blogging is a great way to stay motivated and get support for your C25K journey
yay. you are such a star. well done for getting on and doing it. Keep coming on here - i find it really inspirational and comforting - you meet people who are going through the same battles as you and those who have got past them. I'm 5 stone overweight and the wrong side of 40 so i know how hard it is. Just do what you can and dont worry if you cant finish the run. Its all better than being on the couch eating chocolate! It doesnt matter if you do the same run lots of times. Keep going at it until you feel comfortable and you'll be surprised how quickly you start to get through them. Good luck xx
