So have felt unfit for awhile now tried the gym was ok but couldn't motivate myself to go. Looked at this last year and did nothing about it as I don't really like running but as I'm starting to feel uncomfortable in my body and realise I am a couch potato I have to do something....so here we go x

Thanks I'm reading through comments people have made on their week ones ....I think I need to get a sports bra and proper running shoes

Yes you do lol. I run in leggings, a t shirt & a fleece jumper BUT I have a proper sports bra & running trainers, the rest can come later when I can actually call myself a runner :)

yes - they do help. my shoes felt like i was running on air. And as for a bra, I always make sure i am strapped down and secure with industrial strength scaffolding. Can't risk knocking myself out!

For many of us here, this has completely changed our life. I started 3 years ago at 43 years old and I have never looked back. I think I am the fittest and healthiest I have ever been. My advice is stick at it as the triumphs will give you huge pleasure and a sense of achievement. It isnt easy but your body and mind will thank you :)

I was exactly the same. I didn't like the gym or exercise classes, and I always said I couldn't run. But one day I just decided to give C25K a go, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I've been off sick for a couple of weeks and I honestly think not running makes me feel more ill! There's more to this running lark than meets the eye, and if you're prone to feeling miserable and lethargic, you will find the benefits to your mindset actually outweigh those involving the improvement of your physical fitness.

I challenge you to prove me wrong!!!

I went to a gym years ago and was totally turned off by the experience, the only excercise I do normally is walk my dog, I am on week two now and cannot believe how motivated I feel, I hope it lasts. Good luck

Best of luck! I'm on week 3 and if I can do it, anyone can!

I cancelled my gym membership, bought new trainers (and yeah an industrial strength sports bra) and got out in the fresh air. I'm loving it after always saying I hated running!

Before beginning this programme, I too thought I didn't like running; I wouldn't have run even to catch a train and I used to say that running was against my religion.

Eight weeks later I am hooked and I am constantly looking forward to the next run...

My recommendation is to run outdoor; it's so much funnier.

Me too I actually only got as far as downloading the app buying some running socks !!! Looking to buy shoes tomorrow and do my first run tomorrow night ....well walk/run I did listen to the app today

Primark has really good cheap running gear if you need some too! Good luck x

Thanks funny I was in ere yesterday and found a whole section on running stuff.....I never knew they did that sort of stuff helps with the finances. I got some shoes at sports direct had a very helpful young man help me so I'm getting there
