I'm never sure how to approach this.... I'm on Wk6R2 today and my throat started killing me last night - today I'm a bit congested and still a bit sore and trying to decide if I should run later or not - what would you do?
Is it ok to run with a cold starting? - Couch to 5K
Is it ok to run with a cold starting?
I think it's ok with a cold as long as you feel up for it...we should listen to our bodies...they do normally get it right! It's when you have a fever/ temprature you shouldn't be out there.
Remember it's better to rest and make the next run than overdo it if you aren't quite right . Hope you are feeling better soon
Honestly, I wouldn't. I went out on W5R2 on Thursday with a cold and just couldn't complete it. I hadn't felt that bad setting off but soon couldn't get my breath at all and had to walk home. It knocked my confidence no end and I think it has taken longer to shake the bug. I would give yourself another rest day and see how it develops. Hope you are fighting fit soon.
Thanks I'm feeling ok - throat a bit sore and slightly congested - I think I might give it a go on the treadmill (at least I don't have to go out) and if I can't manage it I'l stop straight away. I won't get a chance to run at all tomorrow so if I don't today then it'll be nearly a week between runs. Its so tricky isn't it to get the balance right. I think if I felt even a little bit 'iller' then I wouldn't bother, certainly not if its messing with my chest - but I'm feeling better than I was earlier. What bothers me is that my daughter has a bad cold that its now a bad cough - I so don't want that cough
