So today I got my reward.......

Today I endured 4 hours of torturous pain and it was my reward for graduating.....MY Tattoo day finally arrived :)

I was nervous and I expected there to be pain but Holy s**t it was akin to child birth!!! End result is lovely though, if a bit bloody and sore.

I have a question though, Can I run with it or will it cause untold damage? I never really thought about it before DER! :)

no idea about running but I'd really like to see what you had done :)

(and after 3 kids if its that painful I can't see me ever getting a tattoo)

Ooh yes, we need pictures.

You should be ok to run - just follow the instructions the tattooist gave you for caring for the tattoo and you shouldn't have any problem running. I would think the worst that could happen would be at the "scabby" stage when your clothing might rub - but if you are worried about that you could just cover it while you run. I've had three - on one occasion, I didn't think about how it would feel to put my leather motorcycle jacket on afterwards and then ride home :-( It wasn't too bad though, I just planned better the next time...

You'll probably find the itchy stage the worst ;-)

I assume it is quite big and detailed if it took 4 hours ? I'm surprised you say the pain is as bad as childbirth though - I found the outline quite sore but after that I found it all rather relaxing ! Whereas in my only experience of childbirth it took 36 hours followed by an emergency caesarean. Perhaps I should have had a tattoo at the same time to take my mind off it........

It should be fine - use bepanthen on it - its the best stuff hands down, my last tattoo healed amazingly fast with very little scabbing after my tattoo artist discovered it! Depends of course where it is - just don't let it rub too much or it'll hurt and you don't want to damage it, but the running and sweating won't hurt it :-)

Thanks, am using Bepanthen as my oh used it after his and it healed fine. I'm going to rest up this weekend and start afresh Monday morning, It's been a very slack couple of weeks with the kids off school :) Thanks for the advice.
