Back from the supermarket clutching suitable egg for icing a message onto (nowhere nearby to buy one ready made so it's a DIY version). "I thought I'd come home early, I'm doing some shopping at the supermarket round the corner - anything you'd like me to get?". How he hadn't seen me there I'll never know, as calmly as I could -whilst frantically packing up the chocolate egg, I replied that vegetables for the weekend would be useful. Dashed upstairs with the icing dripping from the bag to hide the evidence in daughter's room. Piped the message with shaking hands onto the egg and packed it away just before he got back.
He settled to read some running magazines and made a point of showing me the reviews of running bras (!) in case I should want to take up the sport. Does he suspect? We were all on eggshells waiting to see when he would check his blog and, sure enough, after tea he settled down to catch up with his virtual world. "Hey! I've got a comment! Someone called SR thinks my blog is great and recommends I google Couch to 5K!" Elder daughter nearly gave the game away with unusual interest - "who's SR daddy?".
