Not sure how i will cope with running again. Don't want to stop now because i'm actually enjoying it which is strange for me because i have tried to find something exercise i enjoy for a while. REally want to keep it up because when i told my family i wanted to do a 5k run they just laughed so i want to show them all

I have just done run 1 week 2 and can barely walk today muscle pain in the top of my thighs.
You may just have pulled one of your quadriceps, RICE, Rest, Ice, Compresion and Elevation. You may want to add a few streches to your rouine both before and after your run. Also i have started doing stretches bout 4 times every day specialy to my legs. Like you i told my Bf i wanted to do a 5K and he just laughed. but I WILL do it, and so will you, If your pain is bad DONT RUN, what you could do if you dont want your family to know you got an injuary is go out as you normaly would and just walk slow and speed up the walk when your to run. Good luck
Why not try the stretches suggested by the man who originally developed C25k - coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_...
At first, you can do them straight after running and you might want to do them again later in the day and on your rest day too. It's best not to do them just before a run though, you want to be 'warmed up' but not too flexible at that point in case you injure yourself.
daughter aged 13 got this at about week 3 along with sore ankles. took her for a treadmill analysis & she over-pronates (rolls her foot in when landing). she needed support trainers & having these has made all the difference. they were £65 in the shop but I had already said £40 was my limit having just spent £30 on a sports bra for her. ebay had the same shoes for under £20 so I got her them. even at £65 they would have been worth the money for a pain free run
hope the pain eases soon. stretches after a run are now part of my run & help enormously. dont try & run in pain as this can only make things worse.
well done for starting. dont worry, you will make that 5K
Thank you guys for all the support as well as the advice i will certainly stretch when i can get back running
Maz make sure you do the 5 minute warm up and warm down as Laura tells you for each and every run. You might find that after your rest day your thighs will feel ok. New runners like us get these aches as we are using muscles not used for years.
Good luck with it
