I ran a little bit at uni two years ago, and I have no idea why, but I found it a lot easier than this! I suppose I haven't done any exercise at all for the last 18 months..
I'm 22, and while I do an office job, I thought I was reasonably fit..I don't smoke and I eat healthily. But boy, I found the first run really difficult!
I think it was because it was really windy, quite hilly and I hadn't had any breakfast. My keys fell out of my pocket while I was running..and I didn't notice until I'd finished, so I had to backtrack my whole route in the freezing cold for about an hour. Luckily they got handed in, but I don't think the extra walking and cold helped the soreness in my legs!
I've suffered from shin splints for the last 6 months or so, so I was apprehensive about starting running. I didn't have any pain at all during the run!
All of yesterday the pain in the top part of my foot where it connects to my shin was getting worse. I then went out in heels last night and they're really sore today! I'm due to do Week 1 run 2 tonight, but feeling really nervous about it! I'm also a bit hungover, so trying to eat lots of protein and drink lots of water to be in the best condition I can be..so tempting to not do it!
I'll let you know how number 2 goes..but I'm not looking forward to it AT ALL.
