I started my running journey over 10 years ago and started with C25K.About 3 years ago I tore my calf muscle and ever since then I've not been able to get back to running as I used to, over time I've put on weight again and I'm miserable. I tried getting back into running again around November last year but I've got so far and then I just can't do it. So now I've taken a big jump and decided right let's start again and I'm starting C25K like I did years ago and going to build and hope I can lose some weight and get back to a decent level of running again.

Returning After a Long Time

Well done Jenry for taking that jump, I hope you start to achieve what you want. We are here to help and support you on this. If you’ve done it before you’ll do it again and we will celebrate with you. Good luck
Hi, I am a bit similar to you. I started my C25K years ago and was nearing graduation when Covid happened. I was using the gym at work and the treadmill as I found the road too hard (I'm sure people will understand that). So during Covid I wasn't running, and when the office opened up again the gym didn't. And it remained closed and heard last week that it will never open again. Within all tha time I didn't run once - hoping the gym would open again. I also put on weight. Far too much to the point it was becoming an issue. So I have decided to start C25K again. From the beginning. First run done yesterday. So like you I hope to lose weight and improve my level of fitness. Next run tomorrow.
Good luck Jenry1004.
Hello guys, I just posted as well, after going back to C25k for the second time after a good 3 years...
Sometimes life just happens, and even though we wish we could go back in time, we have no choice but to start from where we stand.
First of all Kudos to you both (I'll include fellow-respondent SaabRunner) for startig the plan again! It is a great plan, and it will do loads for your body, your mind, your fitness and your health.
We don't necessarily choose where we start from, but we can choose our path. We get to choose a better path if the one we are currently on does not suit us any more.
It takes courage to take the first step, and then it takes courage and persistence to take every other single step.
But every step counts. It really does! This is how we will eventually be able to change our surroundings, and look back and say "I did it!".
So- chose an objective (i.e. run for 30 minutes), keep that goal in mind and keep going! There might be hurdles on the way, and it might take you longer than 9 weeks to reach your goal. Or not. Either way it's okay, and setbacks are sometimes part of the course. They are not failures, they are experiences, they are steps on our path to success. It's called a learning process.
When you engage on the path to a healthier life, every step that you make is a success, and there are no small victories!
Remember: how do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.
You can do this. Take the first step, and then another one, and another one and... Just keep going! You can do this!!!
💪🏿🔥✨🥰

Well done you...there are a fair few of us on that route again... join the happy band and keep psoting!

That’s great news. Well done to you, every journey starts with that first step. Just think where you’d be 9 weeks from now, if you hadn’t started again! Cheering you on
