I'll have a P please, Bob - Week 9 Run 2

Or I'd actually prefer 26 P's one for every run completed.

P - Pledge 1 - I promised I'd be   MintT s wing woman today as she is running the same run in....

P - Portugal - yes she is, or she better be, otherwise my wing woman duty will have failed and we don't do F words on here

P - Promise - Promised   sheps that we would graduate on Sunday as fellow old time C25Kers, to do that means I have to run today as   sheps is ahead of me on time, and her Run 2 was drizzly and she didn't flake, but me...

P - Piove, Pioggia, Pleut, Peeing Down - I don' t care which P you choose, it's right royally peeing down here, It has been for two days now and forecast to stay until Sunday

P - Primavera - it's Spring officially and the weather is frankly wintery - JCR not impressed - but a promise is a promise and a pledge is a pledge. I am not letting @sheps nor   MintT down, or as my grandmother used to say, don't let yourself down

P - Promissory Note - a very old banking term for a contractual note promising to pay someone - I made a New Year's resolution to myself that I'd start running again to pay my health back, and when I re-registered on here I said I wanted to be a sticky runner not a flaky one

P - Prevarication, I know I'd said I'd run the run, but it is very wet and I don't have wet weather running gear (True I have hot and cold, but not wet weather gear)

P - Preparation - all apps set up, leaving Jo Cool on C25K to last to make sure that she stayed the course

P - Piumino - Italian for duvet and/or padded jacket - my only 'protection' against the rain, so that was put on, with my Swan Vesta orange cap for visibility

P - Pootler's Pink lipstick applied as my final preparation touch, really didn't want to go, but having swapped messages with Mint T, I just had to go out and get wet

P - Playlist - well it had to be the weather one, didn't it - starting for the warm up walk to Sunshine on Leith by the

P - Proclaimers, who told me their tears were drying, well there was no dry to be had here

P - Patted the hounds, and left the house (that's a really poor P if I'm honest)

P - Put the alarm on (second worse P)

P - Penultimate run started and yay Jo Cool is in attendance

P - Puddles like paddling pools, and no-one around, although I am getting very wet being splashed by passing cars - not their fault necessarily the roads are narrow and full of potholes, so puddles abound

P - Passed the terrible tens, nothing to report except that Jo Cool made me smile when she asked how the weather was and that she hoped it was nice. She has never to my knowledge made any comments about the weather but today she did..

P - People - none - are you joking? Italians are very much fair weather people, cold, and sun yes, sun and sun yes, rain and wind to undertake a pastime - you'd have to be pazzo (mad) and they're not but clearly I was

P - Problems - none - apps all worked, Jo Cool stayed with me, I'd not had a surreptitious croissant, all worked perfectly except for the small matter of

P - Precipitation - did I mention it was raining and windy? By halfway through the rain had drenched my piumino and I could feel wet skin on my back.

P - Pace - couldn't really increase it as I was quite cold and the padded jacket now being wet wasn't encouraging

P - Perhaps checking out the previsione (weather forecast) before making promises would have been prudent. But then I'd have flaked and I couldn't do that to my running partners...

P - Progressing towards the end and Jo very perceptively suggested to thinking back to what encouraged me to start this journey (again). I remember very distinctly a run of 22km+ years ago, (blimey I know) in London when I ran for the joy and finished when I felt joyous enough and was rewarded with a Red Arrows' flypast. I think it may have been Liz's birthday or something similar. It wasn't the distance, it wasn't the pace, it was just because... I can't articulate it better than that

P - Plodding now, after the nearly one minute warning from Jo, I wasn't pacey, but I was moving and that's enough

P - Pelle D'Oca - aka Goosebumps in Italian - I had goosebumps, I was cold but pleased with my performance - run done, promise kept

P - Party Like It's 1999. A plea from me to you... Sheps, Mint T and me are all planning a graduation run on Sunday - how many more of us are graduating or re-graduating? It would be good to have as big a party as we can... Pic shows the proof of pledging and promising and more to the point perseverance

Happy Pootling all - I'm passing today's run baton (which is a bit soggy I have to say) onto anyone who wants it....

Jan I love your posts, but today I did my first park run and the P on that was please make it stop! Please, please, but finished, got another P, personal best, ok it was also my worst as the only one I have done but the P after I finished was pleasure, knowing that the hard work we put in to get to that start has been worthwhile, you are about to graduate, don't let that be the end, but the start of the next stage, you have given us so much pleasure with your writing, being able to read your posts has made this journey so much more fun coming on here, I hope you keep us updated and post for a while after you graduate, I am staying here for a while before I upgrade to Bridge.

Thanks for the comments I struggle to know which I like more the writing or the running- but I need something to write about and the running performs (another P) that function. The things that happen to me happen to us all - tripping, messing up on timing that kind of thing. You see the P thing works for us all notice I couldn’t use PB in any of my posts …. Just not pacey enough I guess .- I tried Park Run and I know this is heresy but I hated the semi pro runners running and jostling to get up to the front. As I recall there were some Haringay Harriers training and I thought that put me into compete mode rather than enjoy. That may have just been a London issue of course…

I thought it’s not fair to write about my runs post graduation on a regular basis as other people need the support that I got from just writing my blather… But maybe I’d pop in from time to time once I’ve got consolidation out the way - in and around 10k was always my favourite distance so that’s what I’ll aim for next.

Well done on PB and doing a PR now have a nice Power rest or nap …
