Hi everyone, I’ve posted recently about my knee pain. I have been diagnosed with mild OA following an X-ray suggested for a MCL/ meniscus knee injury. Last week I decided to go ahead on the advice of my GP and Physio and have a steroid injection. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Yes - I've had about 6 or 7 injections - mostly in my left. They've worked very well for me.

Fingers crossed! I’ve not run for 6m. Back at Physio next week.

Not me...but the last time I was speaking with a consultant after a knee issue and a scan, he said that most folk over 4 have a meniscus tear to some degree,, ( Wear and tear).

We are all different... and your GP is the one who knows what is what...is he/she giving it to your for OA pain.... because as far as I know, apart from reducing pain and inflammation they cannot heal the tear... I am no expert though...and we never give medical advice on here, as you know...the medical experts are your guides... you could ask for a scan... just to clarify the diagnosis?

I’ve just been advised to rest my knee for 2w to let everything settle. Seeing the Physio again next week. I’ve not run now for 6m! 😳

hi there - I started getting knee pain about a year ago. It was eventually diagnosed as a meniscus tear, arthritis and a build up of fluid. I did have a steroid injection which was very simple and did provide relief for a couple of months. I then retired and started spending more time on my feet and walking and the knee pain returned but after 2 to 3 months of exercise and physio it has stabilised and I am pretty much pain free. So in summary it did provide some relatively short term relief but not a long term solution.

Hi, I had series Authroscopic operations, and cortisone injections over a period of maybe 10 years....each helped for a short time, but I ended up with a k ee replacement eventually...That said I'm out now twice a week doing 5k,.

Several years later at the age of 71,not breaking any records just enjoying the fact that O/A and replacement knees don't have to stop you....proper recovery is the key...

Enjoy dot tie up...👍

Thanks for your reply. I’m now day 10 post injection and still on relative rest. I walked a bit too far yesterday as it was swollen last night so iced it.I felt frustrated sitting at home when the weather was fantastic.
