Nearly…. but not quite!

Well… after really enjoying over 8 weeks of C25k I succumbed to a nasty bout of Severe Man Flu ( well, a head cold with a bit of chest infection 😂) and couldn’t get beyond W9 R1 - just two runs short of my aim to complete before Christmas

Ah well! Never mind.

Having recuperated over the post Xmas period I’m lucky enough to be escaping the hills and weather of Lancashire for a few days in the Spanish sunshine.

So after tomorrow’s New Years Eve celebrations on the Costa Blanca ( and some more post Hogmanay recuperation) I’m getting back on the programme

I’m thinking I should go back a few weeks in the programme, or should I just try a gentle run to see how it goes?

Any advice from fellow C25Kers would be greatly appreciated!

My new goal (New Year Resolution) is to do a park run sometime in the early part of 2025🤞🤞

Anyway- Happy New Year and best wishes to all of you intrepid runners, joggers and plodders. Keep putting one foot in front of t’other!!

I am strongly in the 'see how it goes' camp.

That's assuming you've been out for a walk or two (doesn't have to be especially brisk) and seen how that impacts on you for a day or so afterwards.

Hi GoogleMe, yes been for a bracing walk along my normal route a couple of days ago, and today in the lovely Spanish sun (more of a saunter with a couple of pit stops for sustenance 😂). Going to try a little jog tomorrow if not too delicate!

Happy New Year and thanks again

Glad you're on the mend.Depending on how long you've been out of action you could either go back a week or two or, if it's only been a week or two you could try a week 9 run but go into it with very low expectations.

Start slowly, I mean VERY S. L. O. W. L. Y. (and then slow down some). Give yourself permission to stop if it doesn't feel good.

Once you've been going for 10+ minutes you can go a little faster if all is well. You might be absolutely fine or you might have had enough after 5 minutes. Either way you'll learn something, so that counts as a good run.

You can then plan your next runs on the basis of how this one turned out. Good luck 😁

Thanks Yesletsgo, good and strong advice

There’s no rush to complete, I’ve enjoyed the journey immensely so far and I’m looking forward to getting back to it

I feel like a lot of the groundwork has been done and I’ll know how it feels once I get going again. As you say —- Slowly!

Thanks again and happy new year

Just see how you go. Start slowly and be prepared for a tough first five minutes. Once you get going just go along with how you feel. No harm in taking a little recovery walk if you need it. Remember this is your journey - nobody is judging you and any exercise is better than none

Enjoy and Happy New Year

Thank you Madwife60, that’s good advice. I suppose I was frustrated that I set a target of Xmas and only missed it by a whisker. Really looking forward to getting going again though

Happy new year to you too!

I think you could do either. I'm also a give it a try to see where you are. If you complete a Week 9 run, great! If not, you'll have an idea about where you need to start.

All the best! You'll get there...
